Signs
Raised, thickened, discolored, or textured scars from prior surgical procedures.
Causes
Surgical incision healing, genetics, wound tension, infection history, and skin type.
Assessment
We assess scar maturity, type (hypertrophic, atrophic, keloid tendency), color, and texture.
Treatment
Laser treatments, microneedling, silicone therapy, steroid injection for raised scars, and PRP improve scar appearance over a series of sessions.
When to come in
Not urgent. Consult when the scar has matured, typically 3 or more months after surgery.
