Submental Fullness (Double Chin)
Submental fullness -- commonly called a double chin -- is excess fat beneath the chin that blurs the jawline. It can persist despite diet and exercise.
Signs
Fullness or a soft pad of tissue beneath the chin, loss of jawline definition, and a heavier-looking profile.
Causes
Genetics, weight gain, aging, and skin laxity. Many patients with submental fullness are otherwise at a healthy weight.
Assessment
We assess submental fat amount, skin laxity, jawline contour, and your profile goals.
Treatment
Kybella (deoxycholic acid injection) dissolves fat under the chin over a series of sessions. CoolSculpting and surgical options are also available.
