Stretch Marks

Stretch marks form when the skin stretches rapidly, tearing collagen fibers. They often appear during pregnancy, growth spurts, or rapid weight change.

Signs

Red, purple, or white streaks on the abdomen, breasts, hips, thighs, or upper arms, sometimes with indented texture.

Causes

Rapid growth, pregnancy, weight fluctuation, corticosteroid use, and genetics.

Assessment

We assess stretch mark age (newer red marks respond better), depth, location, and skin type.

Treatment

Microneedling, fractional laser, PRP, and topical retinoids improve color and texture. Earlier treatment produces better results.
